What's inside?

The underground Hobbit House accommodations make an ideal place for single travellers, couples, families and small groups - a home under the ground for one or more nights.


There are two options;

The Barrel House

2 person Hobbit House

Inside the lower Hobbit House you will find twin beds, a bench seat and wooden table, bedside shelves and under bed storage.  There is solar powered LED lighting, a charging socket and a panel heater.

The Round House

4 person Hobbit House

Inside the upper Hobbit House there are beds for up to 4 persons (2 singles and a sofa which can be used as a third single or made up as a double bed).  This versatile layout inside allows for a customised sleeping arrangement depending on how many are in your group.   There is also a coffee table, small fold out dining table and stools as well as storage space for all your belongings - bedside shelves, dressers and camping cupboard.   There is solar powered LED lighting, a charging socket and a wall mounted panel heater.

Skye Hobbit House

What's outside?

The views from the Skye Hobbit House are spectacular.

Bla Bheinn rises majestically in front of you and no matter the weather you will be amazed at the view.   Outside the shelter there are chairs, a BBQ and fire pit.  At the Hobbit House you are surrounded by the Red Cuillins (Beinn Dearg Mor and Beinn Dearg Beag) and the Black Cuillin ridge.  With views down over Loch Slapin and out towards the Isle of Eigg and the tips of Isle of Rum cuillins you will be spoilt for choice for views.

Located nearby is the compost toilet (full instructions given).  If travelling by car you can park right behind the Hobbit House.

If needed, a cooking area is only a short distance away with gas hob and small oven, microwave, kettle and toaster. (see below for extras)

What's included?

The basic tariff is:

£20 per person, per night

This price covers staying in either of our one-of-a-kind underground Hobbit House shelters.

Includes: a pillow with pillowcase, drinking water, solar electricity for lights and gadget charging and use of the nearby compost toilet.

You are getting a unique experience indeed!

Located a short walk away is a separate building suitable for drying wet gear and storing bicycles. There is also a game shed which has a pool table, dart board and football table for guests to use as well as a variety of books, games and jigsaws which can be taken back to the accommodation.

Guests can also take advantage of free wifi internet access in our reception when open or in our internet shed if they have their own wireless device with them.

Shops, launderette, bank, post office and medical facilities are available in Broadford.

Please Note: There is strictly No Smoking allowed inside the accommodation. Please dispose of your cigarette butts responsibly to help the environment.

Bedding option

£5 per person, per stay.   If you don't have your own bedding/sleeping bag you can hire sheets and duvets from us for the duration of your stay.  Please select this option when booking so your bedding is ready for your arrival.   If you bring your own bedding/sleeping bag there is no extra charge.


Self catering kitchen area
£5 per use/night.

If needed all-weather cooking facilities are located a short walk away in our underground kitchen.  Gas hob, oven, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.   There is also a sink for the dishes. Per night charge includes use of facilities for that night's dinner and the following morning's breakfast.  Price covers gas, electric, hot water and all utensils/pans/crockery/cutlery are provided.  You can eat here at the table or take your food back to the Hobbit House. Drinking water is also provided.

Alternatively, charcoal for the BBQ can be bought at the local supermarket in Broadford.

Campfire Kit
£5 suggested donation to charity box.
For use of the firepit facilities, includes dry kindling, firelighters and a basket of firewood.  Charcoal can be bought at the local supermarket in Broadford.
£2 per use includes towel.  Shower room is located a short walk away from the underground Hobbit House.   There is also a flushing toilet.

For a small fee we are happy to do a load of washing and drying for you overnight.   Please organise this with Paul or Becky on arrival.
